Message from the Board – Joe Watts, President
"December's gifts - custom, ceremony, celebration, consecration - come to us wrapped up, not in tissue and ribbons, but as cherished memories. This is the month of miracles! The oil that burns for eight days, the royal son in a stable, the inexplicable return of Light on the longest darkest night of the year. Where there is Love, there are always miracles. And where there are miracles, there is great joy!"
Merry Christmas!

ACC Corner – Joe Rochel, ACC Chairperson
I am pleased to say the ACC has closed two new homes that were in construction.
I would like to remind all homeowners in Carolina Shores that when you receive a letter of violation, this letter is a first, “Courtesy” letter. The reason we do this is to let the homeowner know that a possible violation has been reported and it may need attention. This first letter says in the next to the last paragraph “The CSPOA requests that you contact this office by phone at 910-579-2044 or email at acccspoa@gmail.com within seven (7) days of the date of this letter of the corrective action you have taken or will be taking.” I ENCOURAGE every homeowner that receives this first letter to not get upset; please just contact the office to let us now you are aware of the issue and will be working on the problem. If this first letter is not clear to you, I ask you to please just contact us. I will return your phone call or your e-mail to help answer your questions. I am available to meet you at your home to help clear up the confusion.
I want everyone to understand I am here to help you resolve the issue. Therefore, I am reaching out to everyone and asking you to contact us within the 7-day response. When you do not contact the office, that automatically starts the process to send out the 2nd letter and the board letter. I do not want this to happen to any homeowner. I hope this helps clear up any confusion about the 2nd letter and the board letter.
I WISH EVERYONE A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY SEASON.

I have volunteered within the Garden Club to help raise money for scholarships for Brunswick High School seniors. The past two year I have been the Liaison to the Advisory Committee. If I am reelected, I would like to focus on the continued safety and prosperity within our community.

My past experience on Boards has given me the opportunities in working together with Board members and new and older residents to foster good community relations and communication. I would like to foster additional community events and further upgrade our clubhouse facilities. The last two years I have been responsible for maintenance of the clubhouse and have gained a working knowledge from our board to better serve our community over my recent tenure. BOARD AND COMMUNITY AREAS OF INTEREST: Advisory Committee, resource management, and infrastructure maintenance.

Garden Club – Mary Conover
The Garden Club meeting was held on November 9 and well attended. After our business meeting, we gathered for a Holiday Arrangement workshop, led by Diane Frederes. This was so much fun, and enjoyed by all, as we took our creations home.
There will not be a meeting in December, as members enjoy our yearly Holiday Luncheon.
The next meeting will be held on January 11, 2023, as we learn all about Growing Roses in the South, with Anne Coleman, Master Gardener and Consulting Rosarian.
The Garden Club is open to anyone who has a desire to enhance their gardening skills and knowledge, or simply enjoys and appreciates the beauty of nature. We meet on the second Wednesday of the month, from September to May. For more information, call Mary Conover, 703-409-9612.
The “Soup and Bake” sale was a great success!
We would like to shout out a big THANK YOU to all who made soup and baked goods for this event. Also, the Soup and Bake sale would not happen without the help of members, their husbands who were so kind to help with the heavy stuff and all who purchased these items.

Book Discussion Group – Susie Riggs
Seventeen enthusiastic readers attended our meeting on Friday, November 18. Our reading selection for the month was The Kitchen Front by Jennifer Ryan, a novel set in Britain during World War II. Not your typical war story, this book is about four women from different backgrounds who compete in a cooking contest in which the winner will become the host of a BBC cooking program called The Kitchen Front. Our discussion centered around two themes that were prominent in the book: the friendship, love, and kindness that developed between these women who were originally rivals and the hardships that they endured to keep their families and communities fed during this time of food shortage and rationing.
Our next meeting will be held on Friday, December 16, at 10:00 a.m. in the main room of the POA clubhouse. We will be discussing Book Lovers by Emily Henry. All interested Carolina Shores residents are invited to attend.
Knit ‘n Natter – Diana Mardall
The knitting group will meet this month on the following Mondays, December 5 and 19, 2022, at 6:30 p.m.
If you have any questions, email me at limeylady70@gmail.com or call me at 910-575-7804.
Quilting Group – Gloria Gustavson
For the month of December, the quilters will meet on December 9 only at 10:00 a.m. at the POA clubhouse. Our group is small, and we would love to grow and meet new folks. We welcome quilters of all levels. If interested, come check us out. If you have any questions, you can call me at (910) 297-0066.
Care Team – Flo Pflaster
Care Team Volunteers
I would like to update this list. As of now, there are 59 people who had let me know they would be available to help with neighbors’ needs at times. I get few responses, mostly from the same 3-4 people. So, if you no longer wish to be on this list, please text me at 910-368-1070 or email me at dfp324@atmc.net
If you would like to stay on this list and would prefer to get notifications by email instead of through Nextdoor, please email me at dfp324@atmc.net and I will send out a group email when someone needs help in our community.
If you need help, please continue to let me know by calling the above number or my home at 910-575-6243.
Flo Pflaster
We have many volunteers on the Care Team, ready and willing to help our neighbors with temporary assistance. I will do whatever I can to find someone to help - all you need to do is call or email me!
